Welcome to the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) website.
BOCRA was established on 1 April 2013 pursuant to the Communications Regulatory Authority Act of 2012 [No. 19 of 2012] to assume responsibility over the regulation of the communications sector in Botswana, comprising telecommunications, Internet and Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs), commercial radio and television communications broadcasting, postal services and related matters.
Therefore, the Act ushers in a converged communications regulatory environment for Botswana, replacing the Telecommunications Act (72:03) and the Broadcasting Act (72:04) that provided for separate regulation of telecommunications and broadcasting. Hence BOCRA Board takes over from the former Boards of the Botswana Telecommunications Authority (BTA) and the National Broadcasting Board (NBB).
We welcome BOCRA and take this opportunity to assure our stakeholders and the public of our renewed commitment to better facilitate the communications sector as the new entity, BOCRA. Bear with us as we work round the clock to update all information on the website to reflect BOCRA.
