Basebi Mosinyi - Botswana’ s Candidate to the Radio Regulations Board (RRB)

BOCRA has selected Ms. Basebi Mosinyi, Deputy Director of Spectrum Management, to serve as Botswana's representative for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Radio Regulation Board (RRB) for the 2026 – 2030 term.

Botswana has set forth ambitious objectives to digitalise its entire economy, as outlined in Vision 2026 and the National Transformation Strategy (2023-2030). The process of digitalisation relies on the availability, accessibility, and affordability to high-quality networks such as 4G, 5G, and satellite which heavily rely of radio frequency spectrum. Accordingly, it is essential for Botswana to assume a strategic role at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to shape radio frequency spectrum policies and strategies in the international space.

It is for this reason that Botswana will be competing for a seat at the ITU Radio Regulations Board (RRB) for the 2026–2030 term. Holding a seat on the RRB offers several advantages, including:

  • Influence in global spectrum management to aid infrastructure growth
  • Safeguarding national interests in global technology trends
  • Access to knowledge and information
  • International recognition
  • Building international development partnerships
