The Communications Regulatory Authority Act No. 19 of 2012 Section 6 Subsection 2 (h) provides that the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) “process applications for and issue, licences, permits, permissions, concessions and authorities for regulated sectors as may be prescribed”.
BOCRA has developed the Digital Terrestrial Television Licencing Framework to be used in the digital terrestrial television broadcast licensing. All digital terrestrial licences will be issued based on the licencing framework.
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to make submissions to be considered in the final document which shall be the framework for licensing digital terrestrial television broadcasting in Botswana. Please note that this does not include cable, satellite, IPTV and other forms of broadcasting.
The document will be available and accessible from the BOCRA Website on the 8th January 2015.
The deadline for submissions is at close of business on the 23rd January 2015.
Following your comments, BOCRA will do the analysis and consider way forward which will include a consultative workshop to finalise the document.
You may send your comments to Itumeleng Batsalelwang (Mr) on email: Batsalelwang@bocra.or.bw or tel: 3685520.
